ICT Extension

An ICT extension program runs each week on Friday afternoons. This is coordinated by our specialist ICT teacher. Interested students from Grades 5 and 6 can ask to join a project team which runs for one term. The aim is to provide opportunities for the practical application of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). Projects seek to further each student’s creativity, technical knowledge, computer skills and problem-solving abilities while cooperating within a team.

Current projects include:

LPS VIDEO NEWS

Students collaborate to produce a video news program that highlights people and events around our school. The team plan the stories, write questions for interviews, film and edit. The finished result is a professionally presented episode of LPS NEWS that is shown in senior school assembly.

ROBOTICS

This project combines key aspects of STEM. Students design, construct and test their robots. They analyse the function of various input devices and upload coding instructions that tells the robot how to function. This robotics task suits and extends students at a variety of ability levels.
