Student Leadership

At Langwarrin Primary School, we focus on developing student leadership skills through formal leadership programs and practical leadership experiences from Prep to Year 6.

Our leadership program recognises that students can be leaders across many different areas and the leadership skills learnt in primary school can lay the foundations for future leadership opportunities because our students are the leaders and thinkers of the future.

We have an active leadership program where students are encouraged to take on responsibilities for the betterment of our school. There are many opportunities for students to rise to leadership at LPS in both formal and informal ways. Through their actions, LPS Student Leaders reflect and demonstrate the School’s Values: Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.

Each year, the students have the opportunity to apply for leadership roles in the following positions: School Captains, House Captains, Environmental Leaders, Junior School Councillors, Theatre Techs, ICT Techs and Peer Leaders.

A small group of students who exemplified the school values throughout the selection of the school captain process will have the opportunity to join the Principal Advisory Group.  They will meet with the Principal/Assistant Principals twice a term throughout the year to discuss a range of topics and provide feedback to the school leadership team.
