Visual Arts

At Langwarrin Primary School, students are nurtured and encouraged as they explore the creative process through our vibrant Visual Arts program. Aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, our program introduces students to a diverse range of artists and artistic traditions from various communities and cultures. This exposure broadens their understanding of the world and allows them to see art as a form of communication that transcends borders.

Students are given meaningful opportunities to engage with and respond to artworks through thoughtful discussion and collaborative sharing. By reflecting on different artistic approaches and perspectives, they develop a deeper appreciation for the diverse ways in which art can express ideas, emotions, and experiences. They are encouraged to experiment with a wide variety of materials and techniques, helping them develop their own personal artistic style and creative voice.

Throughout their time in the program, students build a solid foundation in the elements of art and the principles of design, which serve as the building blocks for their creative expression. They learn to recognize the importance of balance, contrast, colour, and form in both their own work and the works of others. Our goal is to inspire confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for the visual arts, empowering students to continue exploring their creative potential throughout their lives.
